Second Fleet of Tractors Purchased in Last Twelve Months $10 Million “Investment in Future”

DELANCO, NJ… Jevic announced today that it took delivery of its first five 2008 model tractors, with an additional 95 tractors scheduled to arrive over the next six months. This is the second order of tractors for the multi-regional carrier in the last 12 months. The previous delivery arrived during 3Q and 4Q, 2006.

“This is a $10 million strategic purchase for our future,” says David H. Gorman, president and CEO of Jevic. “Investments like this, as well as our recent I.T. infrastructure investments, provide a critical and seamless flow of information and freight for our customers.”

The 2008 Volvo VN series tractors, a combination of over-the-road and day cab equipment, come equipped with powerful Cummins engines, ABS brakes, and self-lubricating systems for reduced maintenance downtime. The over-the-road units, built for multi-day, cross-country trips, come with sleeper berths and ample cabinet space.

In addition, the company has invested in new, environmentally beneficial technology referred to as APUs – or Auxiliary Power Units. The APU units eliminate the need to idle a tractor to power heating and cooling systems, TV’s, radios and other electronic equipment. Eliminating idling significantly reduces the amount of greenhouse gases created by the burning of diesel fuel, making the air healthier at truck stops and anywhere else a driver needs to rest while on the road.

“Jevic always keeps an eye on the environment when it comes to running our operation and serving our customers,” Gorman says. “We want to do our part to contribute to a cleaner America. It’s more than just being a responsible corporate citizen – it’s something our employees want us to do. The APUs, were initially tested on ten of the new tractors purchased in late 2006 and, based on the positive feedback from company drivers, were considered a success. Jevic intends to install them on all their new, over-the-road tractors moving forward.
